Apple Crisp With Homemade Caramel Sauce
Is there anything that screams a delicious fall dessert more than something made with apples? Well maybe pumpkin, but I’ll leave that for another day. I think this Apple Crisp with Homemade Caramel Sauce is just the comfort food dessert that has been missing from your recipe box as we move into the colder months ahead.

This dessert is so similar to The Pioneer Woman’s Best Caramel Apple Pie Recipe I have made for years around the holidays. Except, you don’t have to mess with any pie crust!
That is a big win in my book.

The other great aspect of this super simple dessert, maybe the fact many of the ingredients are probably already in your pantry. Making it a great dessert staple to have on hand for any friends or family that may drop by unannounced.
All you need to make this recipe is some peeled and thinly sliced apples. I’ve used Honeycrisp, Fuji, and Gala in the past, but any good baking apple will do the trick.

Once the apples are prepared, add a dash of orange juice or apple cider (my preference), a touch of sugar, flour, cinnamon, and vanilla.
Dump it into a baking dish or pie plate.

Then it’s time to add the crumb topping.
Simply combine the dry ingredients of flour, old-fashioned oats, brown sugar, and a touch of salt and cinnamon.
Mix it all together with the help of some melted butter and crumble the topping over your apples.

Next, let the crisp bake for about 45 minutes while your house starts to smell like a Yankee fall candle.
This is best straight out of the oven while it is fresh and warm. Spoon on a big helping of vanilla ice cream, and if you want add a drizzle of my Homemade Caramel Sauce to send it over the top!
