Easy Italian Meatball Recipe

Easy Italian Meatball Recipe

Now I thoroughly enjoy sharing some old family recipes on this blog, especially ones that go back to my German roots. But every now and then, I have a small wish that I could take a 23 and Me test and find I have a little Italian heritage. Something that would explain my love for anything pasta or pizza! Until that time comes, I will keep making this Easy Italian Meatball Recipe.

Easy Italian Meatball Recipe Authentic Ground Beef and Pork Meatballs made in Marinara Sauce The Best Homemade Meatball Recipe Traditional and Simple My Farmhouse Table

What I love so much about these meatballs is, unlike many similar recipes, there is no need to fry the meatballs.

That step is skipped and instead the formed meatballs are placed directly into a pan of simmering marinara sauce to cook.

Allowing the meatballs to simmer away keeps them soft and tender, but still so flavorful!

The simmering sauce cooks the meatballs and just needs a little shake and shimmy of the pan from time to time to prevent things from sticking.

Because let’s be honest.

Ain’t nobody wanting to clean a pan that had sticking happening.

Then once the meatballs are cooked, dinner is served!

Just spoon some meatballs and sauce over your favorite cooked pasta.

Spaghetti.

Penne.

Rigatoni.

Etc.

I love all shapes and sizes. No discrimination around here.

Because the real star of the show are these delicious Italian meatballs.

Oh! And some shredded Parm.

Can’t forget the cheese, please.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup White Sandwich Bread, torn into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup Grated Onion
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Ground Pork (or a mix of both)
  • 1 Egg, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan
  • 3/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Cooked Pasta

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the torn bread and grated onion. Let the onion juices start to soak into the bread.

  2. Next, add in the ground beef/pork, egg, parsley, Parmesan, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Mix together.

  3. Form meat mixture into heaped tablespoons and then roll to form a ball. Repeat until all the mixture has been formed.

  4. In a large skillet, add your favorite marinara sauce to the pan over medium heat. Once the sauce starts to simmer drop in the formed meatballs.

  5. Cover and let the meatballs cook for at least 10 minutes without stirring. Then shake the pan and/or stir the meatballs.

  6. Cook for another 20-40 minutes (depending on ball size) until meatballs are cooked through. NOTE: Depending on your marinara sauce, you may need to add some water or chicken broth to the sauce to keep it thin and prevent it from burning.

  7. Serve meatballs and sauce on top of your favorite cooked pasta.

A friend recommended ‘The Cheat Sheet’ by @aut A friend recommended ‘The Cheat Sheet’ by @authorsarahadams to me this past week and let me say it was the perfect pre- Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day read that I couldn’t put down and ended up finishing in a day.

I don’t know if I’ve read a book where I caught myself smiling from cover to cover.

It was sweet (almost cavity inducing), WITTY, deliciously flirty, hard to put down, charming, with great comedic timing, and sexy!

It’s a friends to lovers and fake dating tropes that is right up any Hallmark lover’s alley with a side helping of NFL.

I found myself laughing out loud, cheering from the sidelines, and BLUSHING 😊. A touchdown in my book! 🏈

I’ve been a fan of Fr. Mike Schmitz and his podc I’ve been a fan of Fr. Mike Schmitz and his podcasts (Bible in a Year) for a while, but I found this quote of his the other day and it was as though I had been hit over the head with a wooden spoon.

How often are we happy in life just to survive? I get it life is ROUGH- survival mode is sometimes all we can handle in a season, but after I read this quote I thought to myself- am I living too small of a story? Sometimes yes, I get stuck in my routines. The edges, things that push me, things that scare me- it’s uncomfortable. I doubt myself and what I’m capable of… but He doesn’t. I’m going to cling to that truth as I continue to grow my own story. ❤️
Eucalyptus- I’ve wanted to grow it in my flower Eucalyptus- I’ve wanted to grow it in my flower garden for years- but I hear it’s finicky and slow to germinate. You’ll fail far more than you will succeed.

A lot like life, right?

Well, there’s one thing I’ve learned you can never grow if you don’t plant the seeds. So as we kick off a new year here’s your sign to plant the seeds in the areas of your life you want to see grow.

Faith. Relationships. Yourself.

Sure you may fail more then you succeed, but you’ll never know if you don’t even start. ❤️

Thanks for sticking around for my unqualified TED talk 😜

One of my favorite verses in the Bible and with our first frost of the year expected tonight, I’m taking @floretflower advice and with this last bucket of blooms, savoring the beauty that is Summer on the farm.

As much as I dislike the idea of not going out into my garden every few days to pick these stunners for bouquets to fill my vases and jars, I am happy to say goodbye to weeding, watering, and that big spider in the cosmo patch that we mutually agreed to stay out of each others way and we both will be fine 😜

Also… shoutout to one of my favorite new finds on Insta… @philipbowenmusic on the strings (seriously this dude is super talented!)
