Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List

I don’t know about you, but buying gifts for a guy is H.A.R.D- hard! Especially when the guys in your life aren’t necessarily excited about all the latest fads and newest gadgets. The men I know are farmers, ranchers, mechanics, and just good ‘ol country boys. Over the years I’ve kept tract of some of the best gifts for these hard to buy for men. Here is my Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List.

A Guy's Guide His Christmas List Christmas Ideas for Farmers Christmas Gift Ideas for Ranchers Agriculture Christmas Gift Ideas Christmas Present Ideas

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List- Chain Hoist

Alright, I’ll be honest here, I had to look up this tool to remember what it’s called. And the reason I never remember what this tool is called is because around our farm it has the term, “The Son-In-Law”. The son-in-law? Yes, the son-in-law.

This all came about one day when I was helping my dad fix something in our machine shed and he asked me to hand him this chain hoist. I had no clue what tool he was talking about so he replied to my blank expression. “That one over there,” as he pointed to the bench, “it’s the son-in-law. Because that tool will be more useful to me than any future son-in-law would be!”. Have I mentioned, I am an only child and obviously my father has no faith that my future husband would be any help to him on our farm.

Anyway, let’s just say that my dad (and other family members) use this chain hoist all of the time. For mechanic repairs, fence fixing, etc. I really should just follow him around with a camera one day and document all of the different ways he uses “The Son-In-Law”. Stay tuned for that future blog post. Just kidding.

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List- Leather Gloves

In the Midwest, winter gets cold; really cold. And a great usable gift, is a pair of insulated leather work gloves. Practical, but thoughtful (I mean who wants to send a loved one outside in the cold without a great pair of gloves?).

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List- Metal Storage Shelves

Let’s all agree, most of the guys I know have a lot of big,  bulky, and heavy tools, gadgets, etc. My dad found these metal storage shelves a few years ago and keeps going back for more. They are set up everywhere: our basement, the garage, and in our machine shed.

The shelves are heavy duty, easy to set up, and can hold a ton of sh.. I mean stuff. They can hold a lot of stuff.

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List- LED Lights

I don’t know about your guys, but mine always are in need of lights. They can never have enough flashlights, floodlights, etc. Last year for Christmas I gave dad this LED floodlight. It was originally supposed to replace an old light on our grain bin, but instead dad installed it in our machine shed. It is bright! Lights up the entire inside of the building and much cheaper than actually installing lighting. Don’t discount a man’s love of LED flashlights as well.

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List- Carhartt Jacket

Almost any guy I know in these parts loves a good Carhartt coat. They are heavy duty, come in a variety of colors and are proven to keep everyone warm and toasty. A good Carhartt jacket will last a long time and be a winter clothing staple.

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List- Customized Metal Signs

I love gifting these customized metal signs for Christmas, birthdays, and even weddings. They make a great present that can be designed to fit your hobbies or farm/ranch. You can choose from a variety of sizes and designs, even a mailbox topper!

Guy’s Guide: His Christmas List- Traeger Grill

Men in general love to grill. I’m guessing it has to do with the meat and fire combo. This beautiful grill is what he has been missing. I love my Traeger Grill and have used it for over 3 years! No worries about propane tanks or flare ups. Just plug it in, fill with flavored pellets, and you are on your way to some of the best steaks and burgers imaginable! Seriously the best grill you will ever find!

A friend recommended ‘The Cheat Sheet’ by @aut A friend recommended ‘The Cheat Sheet’ by @authorsarahadams to me this past week and let me say it was the perfect pre- Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day read that I couldn’t put down and ended up finishing in a day.

I don’t know if I’ve read a book where I caught myself smiling from cover to cover.

It was sweet (almost cavity inducing), WITTY, deliciously flirty, hard to put down, charming, with great comedic timing, and sexy!

It’s a friends to lovers and fake dating tropes that is right up any Hallmark lover’s alley with a side helping of NFL.

I found myself laughing out loud, cheering from the sidelines, and BLUSHING 😊. A touchdown in my book! 🏈

I’ve been a fan of Fr. Mike Schmitz and his podc I’ve been a fan of Fr. Mike Schmitz and his podcasts (Bible in a Year) for a while, but I found this quote of his the other day and it was as though I had been hit over the head with a wooden spoon.

How often are we happy in life just to survive? I get it life is ROUGH- survival mode is sometimes all we can handle in a season, but after I read this quote I thought to myself- am I living too small of a story? Sometimes yes, I get stuck in my routines. The edges, things that push me, things that scare me- it’s uncomfortable. I doubt myself and what I’m capable of… but He doesn’t. I’m going to cling to that truth as I continue to grow my own story. ❤️
Eucalyptus- I’ve wanted to grow it in my flower Eucalyptus- I’ve wanted to grow it in my flower garden for years- but I hear it’s finicky and slow to germinate. You’ll fail far more than you will succeed.

A lot like life, right?

Well, there’s one thing I’ve learned you can never grow if you don’t plant the seeds. So as we kick off a new year here’s your sign to plant the seeds in the areas of your life you want to see grow.

Faith. Relationships. Yourself.

Sure you may fail more then you succeed, but you’ll never know if you don’t even start. ❤️

Thanks for sticking around for my unqualified TED talk 😜

One of my favorite verses in the Bible and with our first frost of the year expected tonight, I’m taking @floretflower advice and with this last bucket of blooms, savoring the beauty that is Summer on the farm.

As much as I dislike the idea of not going out into my garden every few days to pick these stunners for bouquets to fill my vases and jars, I am happy to say goodbye to weeding, watering, and that big spider in the cosmo patch that we mutually agreed to stay out of each others way and we both will be fine 😜

Also… shoutout to one of my favorite new finds on Insta… @philipbowenmusic on the strings (seriously this dude is super talented!)

I’ve enjoyed going through this experience with her, including random texts and Snapchats of hormonal cries, nesting episodes, and of course, food cravings- which is how the baby earned the nickname of “Scoops”.
