Homemade Shaved Ice
Isn’t it crazy that the Fourth of July is a week away? Happy 250th to the US of A! What better way to celebrate than making this easy recipe for Homemade Shaved Ice.

You don’t need fancy equipment to make these.
Just a few ingredients, a 9×13 pan, freezer, and fork.

Start by choosing your Jell-O flavor.
For these Fourth of July versions, I chose two. Strawberry and Berry Blue.

For each flavor you chose to make, add the Jell-O mix into a large bowl and pour over two cups of boiling water.
Whisk until the gelatin has dissolved and add in 4 cups of lemon-lime soda.
Sprite or 7-Up is my favorite for this recipe and feel free to use zero-sugar options if you prefer.

Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking pan and very carefully set into your freezer.
After about 3 or 4 hours, remove the pan from freezer and using a fork, break up the ice into shaved bits and return pan to the freezer.
Once fully set, I usually transfer the ice into old ice cream containers for storage.

When ready to enjoy, scoop the ice into glasses and if desired, top with a dollop of sweetened condensed milk or pieces of fruit.
It’s the perfect treat for a hot summer day.
