Sweet Chili Sauteed Green Beans
Every year we attend our county cattlemen’s banquet which includes an evening of socializing and an auction that raises thousands of dollars for college scholarships and other county youth programs. But usually the highlight for me is the amazing food; complete with steak, sides, and of course an adult beverage.
If you know anything about me by now, it should be I am usually all about the beef. But this year, one of the side dishes were these amazing green beans. No, these are not your regular run-of-the-mill reheated industrial canned green beans. These are magical green beans! After savoring my helping (and plenty of bites from family and friends sitting near me) I knew I had to try and recreate the recipe. But there was one ingredient I just couldn’t nail down. Until a light bulb came on and I quickly wrote down my notes for these Sweet Chili Sauteed Green Beans.
Yes. That secret ingredient is sweet chili sauce. Normally found as a bottled sauce in the international food aisle at your grocery store, it is used for things like a stir-fry and dipping sauces. But it gives these green beans that extra zip and flavor with minimal effort.
And no sauteed green beans are complete without chopped onions and bits of bacon.
Got… To… Have… Bacon!
Serve these green beans for a simple Sunday dinner with a grilled steak or pork chop.
Or swap out the good old holiday standby of green bean casserole and knock out your guests for Easter or Christmas with these Sweet Chili Sauteed Green Beans.
You won’t be disappointed!
