Valentine’s Day Homemade Chocolate Truffles
Sunday is Valentine’s Day! Just thought I would lead with a public service announcement. I don’t have a “sweetie” to give a gift to, but that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy sharing cards, flowers, or most importantly chocolate with loved ones and friends. That’s why these simple and easy Valentine’s Day Homemade Chocolate Truffles are perfect to mix up and gift to all your favorite people.

Who doesn’t love getting a variety of chocolates for this special occasion?
I know I do.

These truffles are so incredibly simple and need just a few ingredients to come together.
Start by melting some chocolate chips. This is one of those recipes where it is best to spring for the higher quality chocolate. I’m looking at you Ghirardelli.

Once the chocolate starts to melt, add in a can of sweetened condensed milk and a splash of vanilla.
Mix it all together and then let the mixture cool until the chocolate is easy to handle.
Use a small cookie scoop to drop about a tablespoon of chocolate into the palm of your hand and then roll into a ball.

Place the truffles onto a parchment lined baking sheet and pop the pan into the freezer for about 20-30 minutes.
Once the chocolate has set it is time to start decorating. Melt some almond bark or my favorite, Wilton Candy Melts, and dip each truffle into the melted chocolate.
Decorate with your favorite festive sprinkles, crushed peanuts, or maybe even crushed cookie pieces.

Once all the truffles are decorated, package a few into a cute box and gift it to all your favorite people.
Make sure to keep a few for yourself and serve it as dessert with your Valentine’s dinner complete with a delicious steak!

Ingredients
- 8 oz Ghirardelli Bittersweet Chocolate Chips
- 8 oz Ghirardelli Semisweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 can (14 oz) Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 1 Tbsp Vanilla
- Almond Bark or Candy Melts
- Variety of Sprinkles or Finely Chopped Nuts
Instructions
-
In a double broiler or a heatproof pan set over a saucepan of gently boiling water, melt together the bittersweet and semisweet chocolate chips.
-
Once the chocolate starts to melt pour in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract. Stir together until the mixture comes together, then remove the bowl from the saucepan and let it cool to room temperature.
-
When the chocolate has cooled, use a cookie scoop to pick up about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll into a ball and place onto a parchment lined baking sheet. (If the chocolate mixture seems too soft to roll, place the bowl into the fridge for 20-30 minutes to firm up.)
-
Once all of the chocolate is rolled into the truffle balls, place the baking sheet in the freezer for 20-30 minutes until chilled.
-
After the truffles have chilled, melt the almond bark or candy melts according to package directions. One by one drop each truffle into the melted chocolate, coat, and place back onto the parchment paper.
-
Once each truffle is coated with chocolate, top with sprinkles or any other decoration, before the chocolate coating sets.
-
Repeat coating and decorating process for remaining formed truffles.
