  • 5 lb Ham
  • 1 can Beer
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Corn Syrup

  1. Score the ham in a diagonal pattern. Place into a roasting pan (with roasting rack if possible) and pour the can of beer over the top of ham. Cover with foil and bake at 325°F for 30 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile in a small saucepan over low to medium-low heat, melt together the brown sugar, honey, and corn syrup. This will be very thick to begin with, but as it heats will start to thin out to make a pour-able glaze.

  3. After baking the ham for 30 minutes, pour half of the glaze over the top of the ham. Turn the oven up to 350°F and bake for another 30 minutes, uncovered.

  4. Then pour the remaining glaze over the top of the ham. Bake for another 15 minutes.

  5. Remove from the oven and let stand 15-20 minutes. Slice and serve with juice and glaze.

Recipe Notes

  • For every extra pound of ham (over 5 lbs) add 15 minutes of bake time to the original un-glazed bake at 325F.
  • Because the glaze is very sticky, it is important to keep it warm before serving. When I take the ham out to rest, I pour any extra juice and glaze into a small saucepan to keep warm on the stove, until ready to serve.
