The best Apple Crisp with Homemade Caramel Sauce recipe ever! A simple and easy fall dessert perfect for the holidays. Old-fashioned, one-pan, comfort food
In a large bowl combine apples, the orange juice or apple cider, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir gently until combined.
Pour mix (with juices) into a greased 9 1/2 inch deep-dish pie plate or 9x9 inch square baking dish.
For the topping; combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Add in melted butter and stir to combine.
Using your fingers, crumble the mixture over the apples.
Spray a piece of foil with cooking spray and loosely cover the baking dish.
Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, until apples are tender, juices are bubbling around the edges, and the topping is golden brown.
Top with vanilla ice cream and the Homemade Caramel recipe below.
Combine brown sugar and cream in a small saucepan. Add in butter, vanilla, and salt.
Stir the mixture over medium heat, while it melts.
Let it come to a gentle boil for about 2-3 minutes and then remove from heat.
Drizzle over Apple Crisp or store in airtight container in fridge. When ready to serve scoop out desired amount and re-heat in microwave for about 20 seconds or until melted and warmed.
