Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 3 Tbsp Tomato Paste
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Dill Pickle Brine (the juice from a jar of dill pickles)
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp Tabasco Sauce more or less to taste and spice level
  • 1 tsp Celery Salt
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 4 cups Cheez-Its I like to use the White Cheddar flavor for this
  • 2 cups Cheerios
  • 2 cups Chex Cereal
  • 2 cups Pretzels
  • 1 cup Cashews or peanuts

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat and whisk in tomato paste. (It might begin to separate, but that's okay.)

  2. Remove butter from heat and whisk in the Worcestershire sauce, dill pickle brine, sugar, Tabasco sauce, celery salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  3. Into a large roasting pan, mix together the remaining ingredients- Cheez-Its, Cheerios, Chex, pretzels, and cashews.

  4. Pour the butter mixture over the top and toss everything together to coat.

  5. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes in a 250℉ oven, stirring every 15-20 minutes until the mixture is fragrant and fairly dry.

  6. Remove from oven and let cool either in the pan or spread out onto a parchment lined countertop.

  7. Transfer cooled snack mix into an air tight container or resealable bag. You can store this at room temperature for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
