Hot Buttered Rum Batter Recipe

First off, I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and plenty of leftovers this week to keep the festivities going a little longer. Now let’s talk about some “adult” festivities where this Hot Buttered Rum Batter Recipe will warm up any occasion.

What is it about a hot beverage at Christmas time that makes you want to bundle up and go look at neighborhood Christmas lights or decorate a tree?

Hot Buttered Rum ranks right up there with your favorite apple cider and hot chocolate recipes.

One reason I love this recipe for Hot Buttered Rum, is the batter can be made, put into pretty jars with decorative ribbon, and gifted to almost anyone during the course of the holidays.

Give a jar to your BFF.

Or to your neighbors.

Co-worker’s gifts? Check!

Guess what’s going in mom’s Christmas stocking?

Because who doesn’t like to see mom just a little more “relaxed” during the holidays?

If you want to make it a little more substantial of a gift.

Add the jar to a cute Christmas mug with a small bottle of your favorite rum.

There you go. I have your holiday shopping complete!

To serve your Hot Buttered Rum: pour 6 oz of boiling water in a mug with 2 to 3 tablespoons of batter. Stir until dissolved and add a shot of your favorite rum.

If you like your drink a little stronger, I do about 1 oz of rum.

A bit of a lightweight? Do a 1/2 oz of rum.

You’re the designated driver for the evening? Hold off on the rum and still enjoy this seasonal drink.

Oh! And how could I forget. Make it pretty (and a little messy) with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle cinnamon on top!

Cheers!
