Country Wedding
A couple weeks ago I attended a friend’s perfect country wedding. It was held at the Schafer Century Barn near Adair, Iowa about an hour west of Des Moines.
The bride Jen and I went to the same dance studio for years, but she now lives in Colorado. It was nice to catch up and be able to visit with her wonderful family.
Upon arrival we walked into the barn to sneak a peak before the ceremony. I loved the way the navy blue table clothes looked with the natural wood of the barn and the burlap table runners.
The ceremony was held outside by a farm pond. It was a bit of a hot day, but we were all thankful that the rain had not arrived like the weather stations had predicted all week. The aisles were hay bales, lined with old family quilts and at the center was a rustic cross that the couple exchanged personal wedding vows under.
The bride was stunning and the ceremony touching and heartfelt. One of those that you can just see how much the couple loves each other and that is so special to witness.
I adored the bridesmaid dresses and bouquets. The pastel oranges of the flowers were beautiful against the dark navy blue dress each girl wore.
Across the top of the barn was strings of lights and banners of burlap and lace pendents. Rustic and simple. Just the sort of decorations you would expect in a country wedding.
The couple took pictures after the ceremony as we were treated to drinks, a popcorn bar, and yard games to play.
Each table was decorated with these beautiful rustic centerpieces. A votive candle, mason jar, and array of flowers placed on a slice of wood and accompanied by a deer antler.
In my opinion the best decoration at the barn reception was this mason jar chandelier! Two of my favorite things in one!
The whole day was perfect! Rustic, simple, and most of all filled with love!
