The Best Homemade Waffles
The very first recipe I posted on this blog seven years ago (yes, seven!), was my favorite buttermilk pancakes. Honestly, there are few things as delicious as fluffy pancakes on a slow Sunday morning, except I also think my recipe for The Best Homemade Waffles could find a place on that list too.

It has been forever since I made homemade waffles around these parts. Mostly because my trusty waffle iron got buried in the dark recesses of that one kitchen cabinet.
You know- the place kitchen gadgets go one day, never to be seen again?
Please tell me I’m not alone in having one.

Anyway, for Christmas I received a Dash Mini Waffle Maker and it was game on once again.
These waffles start out by separating an egg, and then whipping the white until stiff peaks form.
This is the key to perfect, fluffy waffles!

Next, mix together the remaining ‘wet’ ingredients.
The egg yolk, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
Then add the dry ingredients- flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
When the wet and dry ingredients are incorporated, gently fold in the beaten egg white.

Follow the instructions for your own waffle maker for the amount of batter to use and time to cook.
For me (and my mini waffle maker), it seems as though about 1/4 cup of batter cooked for 2 minutes is perfect!

Serve the waffles hot with butter, syrup, or any other topping that fits your fancy.
Sunday brunch just got better.
