Smash Burgers Recipe
Summertime is perfect for low fuss, easy meals. Few things are a better fit for summer meals than this Smash Burgers Recipe.

Start by putting together the burger mixture.
In a large bowl add the ground beef, grated onion, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, black pepper, and salt.
Use your hands to mix together and divide into eight equal portions.

Roll each portion into a ball then slightly press to flatten.
I usually form these ahead of time and stick them in fridge until ready to cook.

In the meantime, make the special sauce.
Stir together ketchup, mayonnaise, pickle relish, mustard, black pepper, and salt.
Set aside until ready to assemble the burgers.

When ready to cook, heat a griddle or a cast iron pan over medium-high heat.
Place the patties on the griddle along with a piece of parchment paper. Using a burger press, bottom of a saucepan, or large measuring cup press the meat firmly to flatten out.
Cook the burgers for about 2 minutes, flip and top each patty with a slice of cheese.

To assemble the burgers: Toast the buns, slather a generous portion of the sauce on the bottom bun, stack on two meat and cheese patties, and your favorite toppings (I like leaf lettuce and sliced tomatoes). Add more sauce to the top bun and top the smash burgers.
Serve with fries or your favorite summer salads and enjoy!
