Best Recipes of 2020!

Best Recipes of 2020!

First off, I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and Santa brought you everything that was on your wish list for the year. Second, who else is ready to kick 2020 to the curb and move into a new year? I know I am. 2020 had some bright spots, but man, did it have some speed bumps too! I never want to end on a bad note, so for the final blog post of the year I’m wrapping up with a compilation of the Best Recipes of 2020!

Best Recipes of 2020 The Best Recipes of the Year The Best Breakfast Recipes The Best Easy Dinner Recipes The Best Dessert Recipes My Farmhouse Table

Best Recipes of 2020 – Top 5

#5- Jiffy Mini Corn Dog Muffins

I posted this recipe back at the beginning of August. At that point in the year, it seemed almost everything fun and special had been canceled, including the Iowa State Fair.

County and state fairs have always been a highlight of my summers. I love the competition, the friendships, but probably most of all I love the food! Corn dogs are such a quintessential fair food, I couldn’t resist making some at home, and it appears since it comes in as the #5 most viewed new recipe on my site, y’all were missing fair season as much as I did.

#4- Candied Red Hot Cinnamon Pickles

Gardening and canning produce were a big theme for 2020. Maybe not as much as buying an overabundance of toilet paper, but to find canning lids and other supplies as the summer moved along was almost impossible!

My family has always enjoyed canning and any year that we have an abundance of cucumbers, which is often, we make these Candied Red Hot Cinnamon Pickles!

#3- Best Baked Cod Recipe

Even though I live in the very landlocked Midwest, my family always enjoys seafood and this Best Baked Cod Recipe is so incredible, simple and delicious.

A great option for a quick meal to serve unexpected dinner guests!

#2- Oven Baked BBQ Meatballs

Back in January, I introduced a new section and theme on the blog of “Double Dinners”. The concept is for a recipe to have one pan to eat the day you prepare the meal, and then a second pan to stick in the freezer for another day.

These Oven Baked BBQ Meatballs were the first “Double Dinners” recipe I made for the blog and you all obviously loved them!

Perfect to make now and freeze for later (or even make one now and gift the second pan to an elderly neighbor, single parent, or family getting ready for a newborn baby!).

*Public Service Announcement!* I plan on continuing the theme of “Double Dinners” for this January. So stay tuned for more fun recipes that serve double duty in the coming month.

#1- Classic 7 Layer Salad

As the recipe name implies, this one is a classic!

7 Layer Salad has been a staple at Midwest potlucks for as long as I can remember. Easter, family reunions, Thanksgiving, and of course, Christmas never seem complete without a casserole dish of this on the buffet line.

Best Recipes of 2020 – Honorable Mentions

Zucchini Cheese Breadsticks

Zucchini is one of those seeds that if you plant it in the garden you better be certain that you are willing to find someway to eat a zucchini a day for approximately 10.74589 weeks in the summer.

Okay. Maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but seriously, I want to ask the question.

Has anyone ever not had an over abundance of zucchini in their garden?

I think you are more likely to find someone who has a pet unicorn then fail at growing too much zucchini!

Because of this, I shouldn’t be shocked that finding recipes that have zucchini as the main ingredient are popular on this blog. If I am honest, these Zucchini Cheese Breadsticks are a favorite of mine!

Thank you so much Susan for the very kind comments. They have certainly made my day. The spaetzle and especially the Runza recipes are two of my most popular on this site. I hope you love them as much as others have.
