Classic Broccoli Salad
It’s a well documented fact that most salads served in the Midwest, have a 90% chance they do not, in fact, include lettuce. Instead, we usually come up with some sort of mayonnaise, Cool Whip, or Jell-O infused concoction. Not all three together, of course, but in one form or another, they usually make an appearance and thankfully, this Classic Broccoli Salad is no different.

This recipe is extremely easy and a breeze to make.
Start by chopping a head of broccoli into very small florets.
I find that the smaller, the better, for this salad. It’s easier to serve. Pieces get coated well with the dressing. And you have a greater chance of the picky eaters in your family adding this delicious side to their plates.

Add the chopped broccoli to a bowl, along with some finely diced celery, red onion, and crumbled pieces of crispy bacon.

Also throw in some sunflower seeds for crunch, and dried cranberries (or raisins) for color and a hint of sweetness.

Finally, mix up the dressing.
A little mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar. I’ve used both white vinegar and apple cider vinegar. Either one works well in this recipe!

Add the dressing to the broccoli mixture. Stir to combine, and then let chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.
Serve alongside your favorite main course for a delicious side for holidays, potlucks, or regular week night meals.
