I’ve enjoyed going through this experience with her, including random texts and Snapchats of hormonal cries, nesting episodes, and of course, food cravings- which is how the baby earned the nickname of “Scoops”.

A few weeks ago, out of the blue, I get a message that simply said- lemon bars. I guess when food cravings hit, they hit hard. So what is a best friend to do, but find my recipe for these Easy Homemade Lemon Bars.

I’m incredibly blessed that in my job I have the I’m incredibly blessed that in my job I have the opportunity to meet and get to know many different groups of people from every walk of life, but occasionally… there are certain ones who find a special place in your heart.

A gentleman I’ve been working with sent met copies of this in the mail yesterday and to say I (ugly) cried is probably an understatement.

I’m not one to push politics (especially on social media) but all I want to say is this is why history matters. Your not going to find this sort of thing written in text books… but it is in the hearts and minds of a generation quickly fading away.

What is happening in the world is not just “news”. These are people’s lives. See the pain and affect this sort of war still has on a generation 75 plus years later.

Context:
Picture 1- Poem written by my clients grandfather sometime after his son (client’s father) was KIA in WWII. The line that got me was… “It is just a sweet memory that chants the refrain… I’m glad I touched shoulders with you.” 😭 I think if you have ever lost someone dear to you… you can understand that line ❤️

Picture 2-3- Note from client to me on a copy of his dad’s obituary. I think it’s easy to sense how this sort of loss had an affect on multiple generations of a family.

Buy yourself the flowers. Light the ‘good’ ca Buy yourself the flowers.

Light the ‘good’ candle.

Put on a spritz of your favorite perfume, not because you are going out, but because it makes you feel special.

Open the expensive bottle of wine that you’ve been saving for the ‘perfect’ occasion, and drink it for no particular reason at all.

Stop saying “we need to get together” to a dear friend and then never actually making plans.
Leave your sweatpants on, messy bun in, and just BE with each other. Curl up on the couch with their dogs, kids, etc and enjoy some leftover Chinese food while catching up on your favorite shows.

Life is messy and real.
Stop living FOR the perfect and just LIVE.
Don’t wait.
Make the memories WITHIN the mess.

That’s the mindset I’m trying to live in these days, and you know what?

I’m happier for it! ❤️
The Super Bowl is this weekend so why not make SOU The Super Bowl is this weekend so why not make SOUP in a BOWL? 🤣

Cheesy Ham and Broccoli Soup in “homemade” bread bowls are perfect for game day!

Soup recipe is linked in my profile and here is how I make bread bowls.

“Homemade” Bread Bowl (makes 3)
-Thaw one frozen bread loaf according to package directions (I put it in the fridge overnight)
-Cut loaf into thirds, shape into balls, brush a beaten egg over the top, cover lightly with plastic wrap and let rise until doubled (about 2-3 hours)
-When ready to bake, remove plastic wrap (I know should be self-explanatory, but…) and place into a pre-heated oven set to 350 degrees F. Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown.
-Remove from oven, let cool slightly before cutting off tops of dome and hollow out bread (obviously my favorite part for this carb lover!)
-Fill with soup and enjoy!
